Schmidt Electric provided electrical construction services for the new four-story, 118,000 square foot Austin City Hall and Public Plaza. The development is part of Austin Energy’s Downtown District cooling system and is certified LEED Gold.

The Hall and Plaza house several city departments and council chambers, and feature:

  • Theater-style meeting area with seating for 156
  • CCTV monitors and equipment within the council chambers and lobby area for public viewing
  • Restaurant
  • Gallery space
  • Open amphitheater with seating shaded by a trellised structure made up of photovoltaic panels
  • Underground parking garage for 750 vehicles
